Final assembly of the A320 family is distributed across multiple international manufacturing sites. Airbus operates two single-aisle final assembly lines in Toulouse, France, and four single-aisle final assembly lines at Finkenwerder in Hamburg, Germany, which assemble variants including the A321neo and A319neo. Additional assembly lines are located in Tianjin, China, primarily supporting Asian carriers, and in Mobile, Alabama, serving North American customers while also producing the A220.
Major structural components for the A320 family are manufactured across four European nations. France produces the forward fuselage, cockpit, and centre wing box, while Germany manufactures the centre and rear fuselage, vertical tail, flaps, and cargo doors. The wings are produced in the United Kingdom, and Spain manufactures the horizontal tail and wing-to-body fairings. Airbus utilizes its BelugaXL fleet to transport these large components across Europe, following the retirement of the older BelugaST transport aircraft in early 2026.
Once major sections arrive at a final assembly facility, a standard A320 family aircraft requires approximately three weeks to move through final assembly and testing. Initial structural integration joins the fuselage sections, centre wing box, and wings using precision jigs and automated drilling. Over the subsequent stages, technicians install core electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, avionics, fuel, and environmental control systems, alongside interior cabin fittings such as seats, overhead bins, galleys, and lavatories, prior to final power-up testing and pre-delivery checks.
