China Airlines confirmed on August 26, 2026, that it will adjust the display format of uniform name tags for frontline service personnel starting from March 2027. According to the carrier, the new name tags are scheduled to be issued in phases. The updated design will remove employees' full Chinese names and instead display Chinese and English surnames paired with either an English name abbreviation or a foreign alias.
China Airlines explained that the adjustment to frontline service name tags is being made in response to operational requirements and frontline duty characteristics. By modifying the presentation of personal identity details on name tags, the airline aims to maintain practical identification for passenger communication while protecting employee privacy and safety.
Regarding practices among other Taiwanese carriers, Tigerair Taiwan introduced an option on February 1, 2026, allowing frontline personnel to voluntarily apply for updated work credentials or name tags. Under Tigerair Taiwan's modified design, Chinese surnames are removed and supplemented with English aliases to facilitate recognition by foreign passengers.
EVA Airways stated that, based on the operational characteristics of frontline staff interaction with passengers and under applicable legal premises, it will continue to study practices for staff wearing name tags while on duty.
STARLUX Airlines noted that its frontline staff currently wear name tags displaying full Chinese and English names for daily duties to facilitate communication with passengers from different countries. However, during public relations events and filming, name tag information is masked in advance to protect employee privacy and safety. STARLUX Airlines added that it will continue evaluating reasonable name tag presentation formats under the principles of balancing service needs and staff privacy protection.
