According to aviation news outlet Simple Flying, the Boeing 777X aircraft family will be exclusively powered by next-generation GE9X turbofan engines. The GE9X engines lack the iconic trailing-edge chevrons that were used on the Dreamliner aircraft.
According to verified historical records, the Boeing 777X program previously received approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to begin certification flight testing under Type Inspection Authorization 4B. The manufacturer continues to anticipate the first delivery of the aircraft in 2027.
In addition, historical program records show that the Boeing 777-9 test fleet has reached 4,800 total test hours during its ongoing development and testing campaign.
