American Airlines is facing increasing backlash from passengers due to operational errors caused by its relatively new artificial intelligence booking software. The airline's automated program was originally designed to make it easier for delayed travelers to catch their connecting flights whenever an initial flight departure falls behind schedule.

However, in a number of cases, the software has been changing passenger itineraries erroneously without asking the affected travelers beforehand. By automatically rebooking passengers onto later flights without securing their permission, the artificial intelligence system has created unexpected travel disruptions and generated significant headaches for affected flyers.
