According to a report by Simple Flying, Boeing engineers utilized a simple hardware store leaf blower to identify the root cause behind the 777X aircraft's 2024 thrust-link setback. The simple tool enabled technical teams to resolve the underlying component issue that had previously affected certification progress.
Historical records show that the Boeing 777X program previously obtained Federal Aviation Administration approval to commence certification flight testing under Type Inspection Authorization 4B, with initial customer deliveries expected to take place in 2027. Furthermore, the Boeing 777-9 test fleet has logged a total of 4,800 test flight hours across its evaluation campaign.
