Taiwan's Civil Aviation Administration announced on October 1, 2026 that fuel surcharges for international tickets issued from October 7 would increase. The per-segment charge will rise from US$32.50 to US$37.50 on short-haul routes and from US$84.50 to US$97.50 on long-haul routes.
The regulator said the average aviation-fuel price for September was US$177.89 per barrel, up from US$156.79 in the previous month. That moved the surcharge calculation from tier 13 to tier 15.
Fuel surcharges form only one component of an airfare. The final ticket price will still depend on the airline, route and fare conditions, so the change does not imply an identical percentage increase for every itinerary.
