FTAI Aviation announced on September 28, 2026 that it had acquired 27 Boeing 737-700 aircraft from WestJet. Seventeen will remain on lease to WestJet, while ten off-lease aircraft will be allocated to FTAI's Aerospace Products business.
The 17 leased aircraft will be acquired through a special-purpose vehicle established by FTAI in 2026 in a sale-and-leaseback structure. The ten off-lease aircraft can supply assets to the company's components, engines and maintenance ecosystem.
FTAI described the purchase as one of the largest transactions in its history, but did not disclose the price or a delivery schedule for each aircraft. The portfolio transaction does not mean all 27 jets will leave WestJet service at once.
