Boeing and Ethiopian Airlines announced on September 30, 2026 a firm order for eight 777-8 Freighters and two 777 Freighters. The announcement concerns aircraft purchases, rather than options or completed deliveries.
It is Ethiopian’s second 777X-family order after eight 777-9 passenger aircraft. The airline becomes the first African customer for the 777-8 Freighter. Delivery dates were not specified.
Boeing lists Ethiopian’s existing cargo fleet as 12 777 Freighters, two 767 freighters and four 737-800SF aircraft, serving more than 70 cargo markets. The purchases are intended to expand that network.
