Epic Aircraft announced on September 30, 2026 that the FAA had certified Garmin Autoland for the E1000 AX, clearing the system for installation.
Passengers can activate Autoland with a dedicated button if the pilot cannot fly, or the system can intervene automatically. It evaluates airports, runways, fuel, terrain and weather, then communicates with air traffic control, lands and shuts down the engine.
Autoland is integrated with Garmin G1000 NXi avionics and works with Autothrottle to manage engine power. The announcement concerns certification and did not state how many aircraft already have the system installed.
