BAE Systems announced on September 29, 2026 that its AN/APX-127(V)1 combined interrogator transponder had received AIMS certification for the U.S. Air Force’s F-16. The certification supports U.S. and NATO interoperability.

The equipment consolidates interrogation and transponder functions in one unit. Its open-system architecture supports software upgrades, while the design addresses current cryptographic and cybersecurity requirements.

Work takes place in Greenlawn, New York, and Austin, Texas. BAE Systems expects to begin delivering the first 90-unit production lot in 2026. Certification does not mean that the lot has already been delivered.
