Civil Air Patrol (CAP) has ordered 21 new Cessna piston aircraft from Textron Aviation. The aircraft are intended to support search and rescue, disaster response, training and youth programs across the United States. Textron Aviation announced the order on October 21, 2026, and expects to complete deliveries during 2027.
The order comprises seven Cessna Skyhawk 172s, 11 Cessna Skylane 182s, two Cessna Turbo Skylane T182Ts and one Cessna Turbo Stationair HD 206. Textron Aviation says the aircraft will be built at its facility in Independence, Kansas.
CAP said that since October 2024 it has flown nearly 200,000 hours, carried out 860 search and rescue missions and saved 104 lives. Those figures are attributed to the organization.
