Taipei Mayor 蔣萬安 announced plans to relocate Songshan Airport and develop a Taipei artificial-intelligence (AI) park. Interior Minister 劉世芳 said the Airborne Service Corps’ Songshan base currently has no alternative. She said helicopter operations need suitable space to support rescue work and medical evacuation, and that any relocation destination requires careful assessment.
劉世芳 said relocation also involves the Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ministry of National Defense, and Ministry of Transportation and Communications; the ministries consider careful assessment necessary. She also said developing a science park—from acquiring land through environmental impact assessment, while meeting water and electricity needs—usually takes at least 20 years at the fastest. That estimate concerns the science-park process.
