Lufthansa plans to begin service between John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH) and Frankfurt Airport (FRA) on 5 May 2027. The airline plans to operate three flights per week, on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The service is scheduled to connect Columbus with Lufthansa’s Frankfurt hub.

The route is set to be flown with Boeing 787 Dreamliners fitted with the airline’s Allegris cabins. The published schedule lists a 16:20 departure from Columbus, arriving in Frankfurt at 06:15 the following morning. The return flight is scheduled to leave Frankfurt at 11:15 and arrive in Columbus at 14:00. All listed times are local.

Lufthansa, the Columbus Regional Airport Authority and economic development organisation JobsOhio announced the route on 19 October. The service is described as Columbus’s first scheduled nonstop passenger connection to Europe. It is also set to be Ohio’s only nonstop service to Germany.

Passengers arriving in Frankfurt will be able to connect through the airline’s hub. The route is described as offering onward connections through Frankfurt to more than 130 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. The announcement sets out the planned operating days, airport pair, aircraft type and schedule for the service. Lufthansa’s planned start date is 5 May 2027, with three weekly services beginning that day.
