U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy announced New Mexico’s first demonstration flight under the Department of Transportation’s eVTOL Integration Pilot Program. The City of Albuquerque Aviation Department and Reliable Robotics conducted a hybrid-electric demonstration flight at Albuquerque International Sunport last week, testing cargo deliveries with a remotely piloted Cessna 208B Caravan.

The department said New Mexico is the sixth location to launch under the initiative. The Federal Aviation Administration may use data from pilot projects to develop regulations for the technology. The City of Albuquerque Aviation Department and other eIPP participants are planning additional test flights through the rest of the year.
