According to Interfax, Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport (SVO), Domodedovo Airport (DME), Vnukovo Airport and Zhukovsky Airport (ZIA) faced restrictions between October 15 and 16, 2026, to “ensure flight safety.” Interfax also reported that St Petersburg Pulkovo Airport (LED) suspended flight operations overnight. Russian media reported restricted operations at 22 airports in total.
Operations have since resumed, but residual delays remained at Vnukovo, Sheremetyevo and Pulkovo, according to FlightRadar24 data. Separately, TASS reported on October 16 that Russia’s Defense Ministry said Ukraine had launched 644 drones across regions overnight, including 57 heading towards Moscow. The report does not establish a direct link between that drone activity and the airport restrictions.
