Lufthansa has instructed pilots on selected flights to Frankfurt Airport (FRA) to carry additional aviation fuel as supplies tighten at the airport. The airline says the precaution is intended to reduce its reliance on refuelling at the German hub and help maintain reliable flight operations amid disruptions to fuel deliveries.

A Reuters report said Lufthansa had increased fuelling before flights arriving in Frankfurt. The airline said it did not currently expect flight cancellations as a result of the situation. The additional fuel is described as a precaution intended to reduce reliance on local refuelling, rather than a response to an existing shutdown of airport operations.
