Shield AI and Honeywell Aerospace announced they had completed two autonomous flight demonstrations using Shield AI’s Hivemind, culminating in a coordinated intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) mission involving two aircraft. The first official demonstration flight took place on July 8 in Plymouth, Minnesota. The drone took off on its own, flew a planned route, rerouted around a no-fly zone and returned to base.
Another coordinated ISR mission took place near Phoenix, with two drones running Hivemind. One detected, identified and tracked a target, then passed the information to the second drone. The second autonomously flew to the target, delivered a payload and returned to base with the scout drone.
