Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense said it detected 13 sorties by Chinese military aircraft departing over the sea from 9:30 a.m. It said 11 sorties crossed the median line and entered airspace north, central and southwest of Taiwan.

The ministry said the aircraft operated alongside Chinese vessels under what it described as a “joint combat readiness patrol,” and characterized the activity as harassment in the air and waters around Taiwan. Taiwan's armed forces used joint intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance measures to monitor the activity, and dispatched mission aircraft, vessels and shore-based missile systems to respond.
