NASA reportedly contacts former SR-71 engineers about possible return to flight

Aviation Week reported that NASA had approached former SR-71 engineers about helping return the aircraft to flight. The aircraft, known as NASA 844, last flew on 9 October 1999, according to the report.

Aviation Week also reported that NASA had moved the aircraft into a hangar formerly used for the Space Shuttle at Edwards Air Force Base. NASA has not publicly confirmed a return-to-flight programme or explained what it intends to do with the aircraft. A return to flight has therefore not been publicly confirmed.
