The International Air Transport Association (IATA) said the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has joined the Supporting Alliance for CORSIA EEU Supply. The alliance brings together more than 80 CORSIA stakeholders to address bottlenecks limiting the availability of Eligible Emissions Units (EEUs).

IATA said the alliance’s work includes facilitating processes needed to authorize emissions units for use under CORSIA while avoiding double counting. As of August 2026, 42 CORSIA-compatible Letters of Authorization covered 72 million EEUs, compared with 40 million at the start of the year. IATA said the estimated requirement for the initial compliance cycle is 200 million to 250 million EEUs, and that a substantial supply gap remains.
