Lufthansa is preparing to withdraw its last four Airbus A340-600s from passenger service. The final scheduled flight is LH419, scheduled to depart Washington Dulles on 18 October and arrive in Frankfurt the following morning.
The final transatlantic crossing will bring Lufthansa’s A340-600 operations to an end after more than two decades. The aircraft are currently deployed on services between Frankfurt and Washington and New York JFK.
The withdrawal will not immediately end Lufthansa’s A340 operations. The airline will continue operating the smaller A340-300, while the group’s fleet plans suggest that variant will be withdrawn in 2027.
