Taichung City Government held a Double Tenth National Day flag-raising ceremony this morning, arranging five drones to carry flags in a formation over the plaza in front of the city hall, which became the focus of the ceremony.

KMT and DPP Taichung mayoral candidates Johnny Chiang (江啟臣) and Ho Hsin-chun (何欣純) attended the flag-raising ceremony today, and the two later shared their views on the development of the uncrewed vehicle industry.

Chiang said Taichung has a complete industrial and supply chain, and that with complete policy support and international connections, plus the Taichung International Convention and Exhibition Center, the future could be a golden era of another major industrial upgrade for Taichung; he said that from a past mechanical manufacturing base to a future robot manufacturing base, many industries have already started.

Chiang also mentioned that he recently contacted the drone alliance and received many opinions, and will seek places for display, negotiation and exchange, hoping Taichung will be the core of central Taiwan's industry, developing robots and uncrewed vehicles based on the machinery sector.

Ho pointed out that Taichung has strong precision manufacturing and smart manufacturing capabilities, and has good conditions for entering the uncrewed vehicle supply chain, and the government should actively help local industries seize development opportunities.

Ho said she has previously spoken up for the industry in the Legislative Yuan and sought resources, and recently participated in an uncrewed vehicle industry exhibition held in Taichung to support operators with action; she stressed that supporting the industry means helping solve problems, and that she will support the industry to the end, working together with central and local governments to strongly support the development of the uncrewed vehicle industry and all local workers.
