A Cessna Citation CJ1 crashed and caught fire during takeoff at Bedford County Airport in Pennsylvania on October 7, 2026. The Federal Aviation Administration said the crash occurred at about 10:45 a.m. local time during departure and that it is investigating.
The pilot and copilot survived with non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Bedford Hospital, AeroTime reported, citing local station FOX8, which cited emergency officials. Bedford Fire Chief Gary Cooper said the jet appeared to have left the runway, crossed a road and stopped in a nearby field. It was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.
