The first two of 66 new F-16V (Block 70) fighter jets purchased by the Air Force landed at Chihhang Air Base in Taitung around noon today, and will undergo a joint handover with the US side after taxiing to the hangar.

The Air Force said the first two aircraft, numbered 6727 and 6728, took off from Texas on August 17 Eastern Time, landed in Hawaii, and after nearly a month and a half of maintenance, flew from Hawaii to Guam yesterday. After multiple in-flight refueling, they departed Guam this morning around 8 a.m. and arrived in Taiwan at around noon.

The military stated that the F-16V (Block 70) aircraft were flown by US personnel and remain US property, so the Air Force will conduct a handover with the US side after landing and taxiing.
