Taiwan's Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) said in an Oct. 1 press release that international passenger fuel surcharges for Taiwanese carriers will increase starting Oct 7, citing a recent rise in jet fuel prices.
The CAA said short-haul surcharges will rise from US$32.50 to US$37.50, while long-haul surcharges will increase from US$84.50 to US$97.50.
According to CPC Corporation's latest listed international jet fuel price, which rose from US$156.79 to US$177.89 per barrel, the surcharge tier moves from the 13th to the 15th level, the CAA said.
The adjustment mechanism was coordinated between the CAA and domestic carriers in 2005 based on CPC Corporation's listed international aviation fuel price per barrel.
