EUROCONTROL held a strategic symposium on the Pan-European Network Service (PENS) on September 9, 2026, bringing together aviation stakeholders to discuss service continuity and the next-generation network, PENS 3.0.
The symposium marked the signing of an extension to the existing NewPENS contract with BT, which operates the service since 2018, securing operational stability and providing a transition period for PENS 3.0.
NewPENS connects stakeholders across 44 countries and supports over 48 users. PENS 3.0 is designed with a planned dual-core architecture to enhance network resilience and cost efficiency.
EUROCONTROL leads procurement for the service and relies on NewPENS for its Network Manager role, supporting safe and efficient cross-border air traffic management information exchange.
