Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has announced the completion of the maiden flight of its converted Airbus A330-300 passenger-to-freighter aircraft, designated as the A330-300BDSF. The flight, conducted as part of the certification campaign, followed ground testing by IAI's Aviation Group.
The A330-300BDSF is designed to carry up to 30 containers with a maximum payload capability of up to 61 tons, serving regional and medium-haul cargo routes. The aircraft is equipped with an electrical cargo loading system and a forward-positioned main deck cargo door to optimize turnaround times.
This program introduces the first Airbus widebody to IAI’s conversion lineup. Its current portfolio also includes the Boeing 777-300ERSF, Boeing 767-200, Boeing 767-300, Boeing 737-700 (ICAO type code B737), and Boeing 737-800 platforms.
