Flight tracking data shows Bamboo Airways' sole active aircraft, an Airbus A321-200, registered VN-001, recently operated primarily on charter services, including between Da Nang and Macau. IEEE data shows the aircraft operating on the route as recently as September 3.
The Vietnamese carrier, which once operated 44 aircraft, now has a single active aircraft. The report notes that operating a single-aircraft airline is not impossible, provided regulatory, maintenance, crewing and operational requirements are met, but leaves no spare capacity when the plane requires technical repairs or maintenance.
The report adds that wet leasing can provide temporary backup capacity. The airline's move to scale back scheduled ticket sales on key domestic routes such as Hanoi–Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi–Da Nang, was previously documented.
