Indian low-cost carrier SpiceJet has finalized agreements to lease 20 aircraft as the financially distressed airline attempts to nearly triple its active fleet ahead of the winter travel season.

The airline plans to add 15 Boeing and five Airbus aircraft through a combination of wet and damp leases. Deliveries are scheduled to take place in phases between mid-October and mid-November 2026.

SpiceJet currently operates 11 aircraft. Adding 20 leased jets would increase its operational fleet to about 31 aircraft and allow it to operate approximately 200 flights per day.

The additional capacity will support domestic and international services during India's winter schedule, beginning with increased demand surrounding the Durga Puja festival.
