Changi Airport (SIN) Group (CAG) has announced that DHL Global Forwarding will establish a dedicated healthcare logistics facility, named the DHL Singapore Coldchain Hub, at Singapore's Changi Airport. The new facility will be located at Changi Nexus One within the Changi Airfreight Centre and is targeted for completion by the end of 2027.
Spanning 3,047 square meters, the hub will be designed in accordance with Good Distribution Practice (GDP) standards to handle healthcare and life sciences shipments requiring controlled temperatures of 2°C to 8°C and 15°C to 25°C. It will feature GDP-qualified cold rooms, direct airside connectivity, real-time temperature monitoring, and dedicated temperature-controlled transfer solutions operating from aircraft to the facility and onwards to customer warehouses.
The hub will be situated inside Changi Nexus One, an air logistics building offering close to 8,000 square meters of warehousing space and direct apron connectivity for accelerated cargo handling. Changi Nexus One is the first building at Changi Airport to achieve both BCA Green Mark Platinum and Green Mark Platinum Positive Energy Building certifications. The facility will complement existing airport infrastructure, which includes cool dollies and over 9,000 square meters of airside temperature-controlled handling capacity supporting more than 375,000 tons annually.
This investment forms part of DHL Group's broader 2 billion euro (2.2 billion US dollars) commitment to its DHL Health Logistics division under its Strategy 2030 plan. The broader strategy targets growth in the life sciences and healthcare sectors by expanding infrastructure, specialized cargo solutions, and global logistics capabilities.
Praveen Gregory, CEO of DHL Global Forwarding for Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia, noted that regional healthcare supply chains are evolving rapidly amid growing demand for biologics and specialty medicines, making the new hub essential for future supply chain resilience. Lim Ching Kiat, Executive Vice President of Air Hub and Cargo Development at Changi Airport Group, added that the project deepens a longstanding partnership while leveraging Changi's air connectivity and cargo handling capabilities.
