According to AeroTime, the United States began imposing tariffs of up to 100% on imported drones and critical components at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time on September 3, 2026. Under Proclamation 11055, signed by President Donald Trump on August 13, 2026, unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) with a maximum takeoff weight above 25 kilograms are subject to a 100% tariff. Smaller drones weighing 25 kilograms or less face a 25% tariff.
Products originating in allied nations, including Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, or European Union member states, can qualify for a capped tariff of 15% if critical components and technology originate in eligible economies. Additionally, products from suppliers on the Pentagon's Blue UAS lists or the FCC's Conditional Approval List as of September 2, 2026, will have their tariff implementation delayed until February 9, 2027.
