American Airlines has unveiled its first Boeing 777-300ER retrofitted with its new Flagship Suites. The upgraded widebody aircraft officially entered commercial service on September 2, 2026, operating a flight from New York (JFK) to Buenos Aires (EZE).
The retrofit eliminates First Class on the Boeing 777-300ER fleet, replacing eight first-class and 52 legacy business-class seats with 70 new-generation Flagship Suites. The cabin reconfiguration also expands Premium Economy capacity from 28 to 44 seats across the carrier's 20 B777-300ER aircraft.
Following the deployment of Flagship Suites, legacy First class bookings will end on November 19, 2026. American Airlines also plans to operate the retrofitted aircraft on long-haul routes connecting the United States to Tokyo (NRT), Sao Paulo (GRU), and Sydney (SYD).
