Taiwan Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung led a delegation to Palau from August 27 to September 3, 2026, to attend activities related to the 55th Pacific Islands Forum summit. During the Palau Taiwan Night on September 1, Lin interacted with guests from Palau, the Marshall Islands, Tuvalu, and Guam, and presented drones to diplomatic allies.

Taiwanese Youth Ambassadors also conducted drone demonstrations in Palau during the visit. Lin stated that gifting the drones aims to further deepen talent training, technical applications, and industrial cooperation, allowing technology to address the development needs of Pacific nations.

Palau President Surangel Whipps Jr. stated during the event that friendship is built on trust and expressed appreciation for Taiwan partnership, hoping the relationship between the two nations will continue to extend across the Pacific.
