The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced on August 31, 2026, that it has granted Washington Manassas Airport (MNZ) a Part 139 Airport Operating Certificate. This certification will enable the airport to accommodate scheduled commercial passenger airline operations.
According to the FAA, this marks the first time in 53 years that an airport in Virginia has received such an operating certificate. Over the past five years, the agency has invested more than $46 million at the airport to support critical infrastructure improvements, including runway rehabilitation and future air traffic control tower construction.
