Air Canada has selected up to 16 Airbus A350-1000 widebody aircraft to replace or substitute for Boeing's delayed 777X program in its future fleet plans.
The airline opted for the A350-1000 as part of its long-haul fleet strategy, addressing operational requirements amid ongoing program delays affecting the Boeing 777X aircraft.
According to previously reported financial update information from Boeing, the manufacturer maintains its expectation for the first delivery of the 777X aircraft to take place in 2027.
This commitment highlights broader shifts in how commercial carriers plan and structure their future long-haul fleets in response to aircraft delivery timelines.
