A LATAM Airlines Brasil Airbus A320 (ICAO type code A320) carrying 151 people ran off the runway while landing in heavy rain at Cascavel Airport (CAC) in southern Brazil on August 31, 2026. The aircraft was operating Flight LA3858 from São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport (GRU) to Cascavel when it left the paved runway at approximately 09:45 local time during a backtrack maneuver on Runway 15.

LATAM confirmed that 145 passengers and six crew members evacuated the aircraft safely with no reported injuries. Severe weather with thunderstorms had reduced airport visibility to under two miles. Following the incident, Cascavel Airport was closed, and LATAM canceled return flight LA3859 while cooperating with authorities investigating the runway excursion.
