Czech aerospace startup Zuri unveiled its new uncrewed hybrid-electric cargo VTOL tiltrotor demonstrator on August 27, 2026. Built upon the company's earlier Technology Demonstrator 2.0 architecture, the aircraft is designed for both civil and defense operations. Zuri stated that developing this uncrewed cargo platform serves as a faster path to generating revenue as part of its longer-term vision to build a six-seater passenger aircraft.

According to Zuri, the tiltrotor aircraft features a useful load of 165 kg and operates at a cruising speed of 220 km/h. When carrying a payload of over 100 kg, it achieves a flight range exceeding 679 km without fuel reserves, or 569 km with a 30-minute reserve allowance. The drone is engineered to operate from various locations, including ship decks, open ground, and landing pads, with target applications in offshore oil platform supply, island logistics, and regional cargo transport.

The aircraft's hybrid propulsion system utilizes an internal combustion engine driving a generator to produce in-flight electricity, capable of running on AVGAS, petrol, or bioethanol, complemented by a backup battery system. Featuring eight distributed rotors, the design maintains flight control in the event of a single rotor failure, while the battery permits a safe landing if the generator fails. Zuri highlighted that the platform is ITAR-free and manufactured using a sovereign European supply chain.

The full-scale demonstrator is currently undergoing systems integration and ground testing in Prague. Flight tests are scheduled to begin in early 2027, with initial commercial deliveries expected between 2027 and 2029. Zuri founder and CEO Michal Illich noted that the aircraft will be remotely piloted by a ground operator, and the current funding round supports the completion of the demonstrator and its flight test campaign.
