Austrian manufacturer AXIS Flight Simulation is entering the rotary-wing market with two new training devices, responding to demand from civil and specialist helicopter operators. The company is developing the high-fidelity AX-DH simulator alongside a fixed-base Flight Training Device designed for regulatory approval.

Both devices will feature interchangeable cockpits built on a common architecture. AXIS plans to offer Airbus Helicopters and Leonardo platforms first, expecting its initial helicopter simulator or training device to become available within approximately 20 months.

Christian Theuermann, an executive board member at AXIS, stated that the expansion was driven by customers seeking rotary-wing simulation products. The new devices are intended to support single and multi-crew training for missions such as emergency medical services, search and rescue, offshore operations, and night-vision flight.
