Bangladesh is reportedly close to ordering around 20-24 Chinese Chengdu J-10CE fighter jets, according to Aerospace Global News.
Citing a report by Bangladesh's The Daily Star, Prime Minister's Adviser Zahed Ur Rahman was quoted as saying that if budget support is available this fiscal year, the purchase will go ahead; otherwise, it will be deferred to the next budget.
It remains unclear whether Dhaka will also proceed with a Eurofighter purchase. The J-10CE is considered cheaper (perhaps half the cost) than the Eurofighter, and would build on Bangladesh's existing Chinese-made fighter fleet.
Neither Dhaka nor Beijing has confirmed whether the current requirement is for 20 or 24 fighters.
