Following the passage of the Strengthening National Defense Autonomy and Unmanned Vehicle Industry Development Act by Taiwan's Legislative Yuan on August 27, Executive Yuan spokesperson Li Hui-chih stated on August 30 that the executive branch has not yet received the finalized bill. Upon receipt, the Executive Yuan will review whether the legislation aligns with national defense autonomy and industry development needs and will carefully evaluate operational implementation.
The passed bill stipulates that the government should allocate NT$240 billion over six consecutive years for unmanned vehicle development. Addressing media reports regarding countersigning the act and submitting supplementary budget proposals, Li emphasized that the government will expedite budget planning and unmanned vehicle procurements according to defense strategic requirements while enhancing domestic technological autonomy.
