Manchester Airports Group (MAG), the owner of Manchester Airport (MAN) and London Stansted Airport (STN), said on August 27, 2026, that hackers accessed a quantity of customer data during a cyber security incident and demanded a ransom, which was refused.
MAG stated that approximately 8.7 million individuals' details were accessed across Manchester Airport, Stansted Airport, and East Midlands Airport (EMA). It confirmed that no bank or payment details were accessed, but customer email addresses, phone numbers, vehicle registrations and postcodes were compromised.
MAG said it immediately contained the risk, engaged specialist cyber security advisors, and informed the relevant authorities. It stressed that passenger safety and aviation security were not compromised and that the incident caused no operational disruption.
