The severe delay occurred after the flight crew reached their mandatory duty time limits while taxiing on the ground, leaving the airplane unable to continue its planned movement.
The situation on the Wisconsin tarmac was further impacted by several complicating operational factors. Reports highlighted onboard supply shortages during the five-hour wait, in addition to strict crew duty limits and closed U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) facilities, which together created major difficulties for the affected passengers.
