Mammoth Freighters has officially reached a significant milestone in its passenger-to-freighter conversion program by delivering its first Boeing 777-200LRMF cargo aircraft to aircraft leasing firm Jetran. For Mammoth Freighters, this initial delivery marks the formal transition of the 777-200LRMF conversion program from its engineering development and flight certification phases directly into active commercial operation.
The specific aircraft handed over to Jetran carries the registration N703DN and serial number MSN 32222. Originally manufactured in 2009 and previously operated in passenger service by Delta Air Lines, the jet was subsequently converted into a dedicated freighter at the STS Aviation Services facility in Manchester, United Kingdom, as part of Mammoth Freighters' expanding international production network, emerging in full DHL livery ahead of its operational deployment.
This initial converted freighter is destined for DHL Air UK, where it will be integrated into the international long-haul air express network operated by DHL Express. Jetran serves as the launch customer and lessor for the program, having ordered more than two dozen 777-200LRMF freighters in total. Thirteen aircraft from this conversion program are scheduled to enter revenue service across the global DHL Express network over the coming years, with four of those aircraft slated to arrive by the end of 2026.
The conversion process designed by Mammoth Freighters transforms passenger Boeing 777-200LR airframes into dedicated cargo freighters optimized for main-deck payload carriage. Technical modifications to the airframe include the installation of a large main-deck cargo door, a reinforced main-deck floor structure, and a modern cargo-handling system. According to program performance specifications, the 777-200LRMF features a certified payload capability of approximately 104,800 kilograms and provides an operational range of around 4,800 nautical miles at maximum payload weight.
