Israeli carrier Israir announced on August 24, 2026, that it has received final regulatory approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to operate scheduled commercial passenger flights to the United States. The carrier is targeting October 19, 2026, for its initial nonstop service connecting Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) and New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).
The approval follows authorization from the US Department of Transportation on August 18, 2026, alongside prior clearance from Israel's Civil Aviation Authority. To support long-haul operations, Israir acquired two Airbus A330-200 widebody aircraft, registered as 4X-BAK and 4X-BAL. This route marks Israir's return to the United States market, where it previously operated flights between 2003 and 2009.
