According to a report published by Simple Flying, two tourists suffered serious injuries after being struck by jet blast at the famous plane-spotting beach situated near Skiathos Airport. The event occurred at the popular viewing area adjacent to the airport boundary.
Crowds of spectators regularly gather and line the perimeter of Skiathos Airport to feel departing jets. Hazard signs and safety barriers have been installed along the perimeter to warn the public of dangers associated with aircraft operations.
However, these hazard signs and protective barriers are repeatedly ignored by individuals lining the airfield boundary to experience the blast from departing jet aircraft.
