The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, which represents Spirit Airlines' former cabin crew, has asked a US bankruptcy court to block or restrict the sale of the carrier's internal business data to Google for $10 million.
The union says confidential employee information, including emails, Teams messages and operational records, could be used without crew members' consent.
Google has said personally identifiable information would be removed before the data is transferred, but the union argues that workplace records can remain sensitive even after names are deleted, citing scheduling disputes, disciplinary matters and training problems.
The sale still requires approval by the bankruptcy court.
