United Airlines Chief Executive Officer Scott Kirby stated that the airline has lie-flat seats ordered for Boeing 737 MAX 10 aircraft that cannot fit on any other aircraft type. Boeing's ongoing delivery delays have pushed United's expected first 737 MAX 10 delivery to mid-to-late 2027. The airline currently maintains 167 firm orders for the aircraft model.
The Boeing 737 MAX 10 completed its final planned certification flight on July 28, 2026, accumulating 976 flight test missions and more than 2,060 flight hours. During the extended wait for the aircraft, United expanded its order for Airbus A321neo jets and introduced a premium-configured version featuring 20 Polaris lie-flat seats for transcontinental routes.
