Typhoon Sadel Prompts Taiwan Airlines to Adjust Okinawa Flights for Aug 25-26

Airlines in Taiwan announced schedule adjustments for flights between Taiwan and Okinawa scheduled for August 25 and August 26, 2026, due to the approach of Typhoon Sadel. According to observations from the Central Weather Bureau, as of 2:00 p.m. on August 24, Typhoon Sadel was located at latitude 24.5 degrees North and longitude 134.8 degrees East, moving west-northwest at a speed of 24 kilometers per hour.

China Airlines announced that on August 25, flights CI312 and CI313 between Taichung and Okinawa, as well as flights CI132 and CI133 between Kaohsiung and Okinawa, are canceled. Meanwhile, flights CI310 and CI311 between Taichung and Okinawa, along with flights CI122 and CI123 between Taoyuan and Okinawa, will depart ahead of schedule. For August 26, China Airlines has canceled flights CI120 and CI121 between Taoyuan and Okinawa, and flights CI310 and CI311 between Taichung and Okinawa. The airline stated it will monitor typhoon developments to update flight status and deploy larger aircraft as needed.

STARLUX Airlines reported that on August 25, flight JX870 from Taipei to Okinawa is advanced to an 8:10 a.m. departure, and flight JX871 from Okinawa to Taipei is advanced to 12:00 p.m. Flight JX302 from Taichung to Okinawa is advanced to 7:30 a.m., while flight JX303 from Okinawa to Taichung is moved to 11:05 a.m. Additionally, STARLUX canceled flights JX312 and JX313 between Taichung and Okinawa on August 25.

Taiwan Tigerair announced that on August 25, flights IT232 and IT233 between Taoyuan and Okinawa Naha, flights IT288, IT289, and IT728 between Kaohsiung and Okinawa Naha, and flight IT793 from Okinawa Naha to Taichung will all depart earlier than scheduled. Separately, EVA Air has not announced flight cancellations or delays, but is offering flexible rebooking options with a waived change fee for passengers holding tickets issued by August 21 for travel between August 25 and August 27.
