Executive aircraft manufacturer SyberJet Aircraft announced on August 21, 2026, that one of its SJ30-2 light jets set a new east-to-west transcontinental speed record in the United States. Flown by pilot Gordon Bryan, the aircraft traveled from Jacksonville, Florida, to San Diego, California, in approximately 4 hours and 7 minutes, achieving an average speed of 505.3 mph.
The company stated that the speed record falls under the FAI C-1.f aircraft category for powered landplanes weighing between 6,000 and 9,000 kg. SyberJet expects formal certification of the record from the National Aeronautic Association and the FAI within approximately 90 days. Chief Executive Officer Trevor Milton was also onboard the flight, as the manufacturer targets 2032 for the certification of its planned SJ36 light jet model.
