On August 10, 2026, an unauthorized wireless network named "Delta Wifi Fast" was detected aboard Delta Air Lines Flight DL591 traveling from Las Vegas to Atlanta. Delta confirmed that the network was neither operated nor provided by the airline.
As a precautionary measure, the flight crew temporarily disabled the Boeing 757 passenger WiFi for approximately 30 minutes. Delta stated that its internal systems were not compromised, and the safety of the flight was never in question. The carrier is investigating the occurrence alongside federal law enforcement agencies and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Cyviation CEO Eliran Almog stated the incident aligns with an "evil twin" cyberattack pattern, in which unauthorized access points emulate legitimate networks to attempt credential theft from passengers.
